Terrorism Expert : Will There Osama Else
Osama bin Laden's death at the hands of the United States special forces in Pakistan are not necessarily made the world safer. There will be another Osama bin Laden-who will continue the Al-Qaeda terror around the world.
This statement was delivered global terrorism expert from Monash University, Australia, Greg Barton. Reporting from the page the Brisbane Times, Monday, May 2, 2011, Barton said that Al-Qaeda is not a small group that can collapse only with the death of Osama.
"Al-Qaeda has become an organization that are in the world based on geography, so bin Laden's death would not change it."
Al-Qaeda, he said, has many leaders are more qualified than Osama. Barton explained that the position of bin Laden will soon be replaced by others, and will so on until at some point.
"There will be a substitute position. Osama is not an intellectual or a great writer, he was a charismatic leader among others. He was known for having managed to escape and hide for so long," said Barton.
Karisma owned Osama, he said, not much is owned by the leaders and other intellectuals. However, Barton believes Osama position will be easily replaced, and the movement of Al-Qaeda does not necessarily end with the death of one person.
Barton also warned the U.S. and its allies will the popularity of bin Laden who would climb if they are not careful in reporting. "I think he (President Barack Obama) will take a cautious and measured, if not this will actually backfire," says Barton.
"For many people, Osama is a martyr, so if the United States submitted a blasphemous statement Osama or menjelek-jelekannya as if he were the devil, this will only add to the popularity of bin Laden among his supporters," said Barton again.
Osama reportedly killed last week outside the city of Islamabad, Pakistan in a joint operation between U.S. soldiers with Pakistani troops. Currently, the body of Osama was in U.S. security.
The results of DNA tests have confirmed that the body belonged to Osama bin Laden. Following the assurance, the U.S. President Barack Obama held a surprise press conference at the White House ahead of midnight.
