Anwar Accused Mastermind Riots in Malaysia

The demonstration referred to as a desperate step Anwar Ibrahim to be Prime Minister.



Opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim, accused mastermind behind the violent demonstrations that ended in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Saturday, July 9, 2011. Through this demonstration, Anwar said to garner support for the election of the next Prime Minister.

The accusation was delivered by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, as reported by Bernama, Sunday, July 10, 2011. He said that Anwar was an opportunist who uses the Net 2.0 in order to manipulate the support to it.

Najib also said that these are desperate measures undertaken Anwar because the government managed to gain more support thanks to economic development. He said Anwar would sacrifice everything, even religion and tribe, for the sake of his dream of becoming prime minister.

"He knows when not to do something, we (Barisan Nasional) will win the elections to 13. This is the last chance for Anwar. If someone knows this is the last chance, then they will do everything, good or bad," said Najib.

Najib also said Anwar's attempt to damage the image of Malaysia in the eyes of the world. He tried to inculcate the opinion that Malaysia is not democratic and describes himself as someone who is perfect.

"This is a negative trait that has not changed from then and now," said Najib.

Anwar also said to be hypocritical. The demonstration led demand clean and fair elections, though, said Najib, who led the party, PKR, also hit by scandals.

The demonstrators in action Erase Operation Clean followed by tens of thousands mass in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia clashed with police. Dozens of people were reported injured, including the opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. As many as 1667 demonstrators were arrested in the incident.
