NASA Developing Repeat-Alik Capsules

Capsules of this shuttle will carry astronauts, targeting low-Earth orbit destination.

U.S. space agency (NASA), as if returning to the past to develop a space capsule that could carry humans into space. Space vehicle named MPCV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle Crew) will be developed by technology companies from the U.S., Lockheed Martin.

"We are committed about human exploration to the lower-Earth orbit (low-orbit, orbit with a diameter up to a height of 2000 kilometers) and will develop a new generation of a system that will take us there," said NASA Chief Charles Bolden, as quoted from pages CNN.

NASA said the astronauts would not try to ride it until the year 2016. Some astronauts are no longer sent to the lower-Earth orbit since the Apollo program, the 70's.

"We are hoping to try to launch a capsule in this decade. We're not sure when exactly, but will as soon as possible," said NASA's Associate Administrator for Exploration Systems Mission, Douglas Cooke.

Like Apollo 12 people after landing on the moon, spacecraft MPCV shuttle would land in the Pacific Ocean on arrival on Earth. However, this new vehicle will have a 21st-century version: More wide and ten times more secure in the launch and landing spacecraft dibandang another shuttle.

"We have a cancellation system. In all things, from sitting in a chair to fly to the top. Forum for the shuttle does not have that capability," says Cooke.

Cooke also explained that this vehicle can run missions to the moon, or the continued exploration missions to Mars. Each mission will be accompanied by further larger compartment for the mission crew.

Currently, the spacecraft was still in pengujuab MPCV in test facility owned by Lockheed Martin in Denver.
