Turkey Earthquake Victims Being Killed 459 People
Istanbul - The death toll caused by the earthquake in Turkey continues to grow. So far 459 people are confirmed killed by the earthquake that rocked on Sunday, October 23 last. But Turkish officials said the death toll will continue to grow considering it is still a lot of people are still missing.
Operating search for survivors continues. Rescuers continue to find victims who are probably still buried in the rubble of buildings. To this day victims of the search operation has entered a third day.
The survivors who were hospitalized in the city of Van reveal their suffering while waiting to be saved. Moreover, most of them have been buried in the rubble of buildings for dozens of hours.
"We're thirsty. At some time we saw the rescuers moved debris moving. They say, 'Wait five minutes, we will expel you from it'. But they had not saved us that day," said Omer Yildiz told Reuters news agency on Wednesday (10/26/2011).
"It was a nightmare, a nightmare really. I still can not believe how I was able to hang in there for 33 hours. It turns out I was very patient," he said.
More than 1,000 people were reported injured by the earthquake in Turkey measuring 7.2 on the Richter Scale (SR) is. This is a terdahsyat earthquake in Turkey in a decade.
